Starlink

Scaling tech retail with modular design

Introduction

Daya teamed up with Starlink, Qatar’s tech retail leader, during a pivotal transition from a traditional retail model to a stronger e-commerce presence. While navigating this shift, Starlink aimed to enhance its physical retail footprint across four prime locations: Lusail Boulevard, HIA, DFC (Doha Festival City), and Al Bidda. This project provided a unique opportunity to create flexible, user-friendly retail environments that resonated with both the evolving market and Starlink's brand identity.

At a glance

  • Modular Design: Introduced interchangeable panels and hook systems for easy reconfiguration of product displays.
  • Engaging Experience: Added interactive test-and-feel zones and strategically placed last-minute purchase kiosks.
  • Adaptable Spaces: Designed stores that could adapt to the ever-changing demands of the tech market.

Approach

With tech products constantly changing, Starlink needed stores that could adapt quickly. Daya introduced a modular design system with interchangeable panels and hook systems, allowing for easy reconfiguration of displays. This design aimed to create a flexible and efficient retail space.

Inspired by the open and welcoming layout of Virgin Megastore, each Starlink location was given its unique touch. Lusail Boulevard became the flagship store, an expansive tech haven. HIA catered to travelers with exclusive souvenirs, while Al Bidda and DECC made the most of their compact spaces with efficient layouts. Every element was designed to make the customer journey seamless and engaging.

Results

Despite challenges like space constraints, material shortages, and tight deadlines, Daya worked closely with Starlink to transform their stores into adaptable spaces that enhanced customer engagement. The modular design allowed for quick adjustments to displays, keeping up with the fast-paced tech market.

Interactive test-and-feel zones and last-minute purchase kiosks were added to enrich the shopping experience. Lusail Boulevard emerged as a flagship with a wide range of products and an immersive environment. HIA’s offerings attracted travelers, while Al Bidda and DECC maximized their smaller footprints effectively.

Daya’s designs not only improved Starlink’s retail presence but also supported their e-commerce growth. The collaboration ensured that Starlink’s stores set a standard for retail in Qatar, integrating smoothly with their digital strategy and maintaining their reputation in the tech retail space.
